“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Here’s the main question… How can Jesus be called “Everlasting Father”? It’s not the Messiah’s role within the Godhead, but the Messiah’s character toward us that Isaiah has in mind. The mighty warrior God is also tender, compassionate and loving. His compassion for the lost He came to save is evident as you read through His earthly ministry in the Gospels.

What does the word “peace” mean to you? For some, it means the absence of war. Or maybe watching the sunset at the beach. Or even a calm day of doing nothing. But according to the Bible, peace is so much more. It is a word that means wholeness or prosperity. In Isaiah 9, it said Jesus would be the “Prince of Peace.” At his birth, the angels declared “peace on earth to people he favors” (Luke 2:13-14). From the life of Jesus we learn this truth: Peace is not the absence of conflict; peace is found in the presence of Christ.
